Unit 2 P4/M2

For P4 I will write a report in which I will recommend what computer system, hardwares and softwares are best for marketing department to purchase. I will say why I have chosen each of the hardwares and softwares and also choose the software minimum requirements for the lowest price. For M3 I will have to write another report on different computer to compare them at the end and chose the better one for marketing department.

Hardware required

1. Printer & Scanner- Epson Workforce WF-2520NF A4 Colour Multifunction Inkjet Printer £71- This printer contains also a scanner, which is really good as company can save up money. This printer has 30 sheet automatic document feeder for multi page scanning, copying and faxing. The paper tray contains up to 100 paper sheets which provides media flexibility.

2. Monitor- ACER S240HLBID Full HD 24" LED Monitor £119.99- Resolution of this monitor is 1920x1080p Full HD, a really good quality of monitor. It has all the inputs needed: HDMI, VGA and DVI. Sometimes two monitors would be needed, but it depends what programs would be used.

3. Keyboard & Mouse- LOGITECH Illuminated Living-Room K830 Wireless Keyboard £82.99- This keyboard contains touchpad, so there is no need to buy a mouse, as in my opinion touchpad is even better for marketing team. It has backlit keys which make typing really easy.

4. Graphic Tablet- MICROSOFT Surface Pro 3 12" Tablet - 128 GB £749.00- MICROSOFT Surface Pro has 12” screen with 207 pixels per inch and 1440p display. It has Intel Core i5 Processor which makes graphic tablet really fast and easy to operate. It contains 4GB of RAM, 128GB hard drive and Windows 8 Pro.

5. Computer desktop- HP 110-352na Desktop PC £319.99- This HP PC Desktop has AMD A6-5200 APU processor, Windows 8.1 which I am not a huge fan, but it is easy to operate and search for files, hard drive 1TB, memory 8GB DDR3 and AMD Radeon HD 8400 graphics. Overall this is a very good computer for this price. Apart from the information written above, there are minor things such as softwares (Netflix, Pokki, Skype etc.), mouse, keyboard, 3x 3.5mm jacks, 6x USB 3.0 and many other that makes this computer much better for this price.

6. Projector- PHILIPS PicoPix PPX3410 Pocket Projector £279.99- This projector has 854 x 480 resolution, connects through HDMI & USB, the contrast is 1000:1 and the power screen is 100 lumens. Its distance is between 0.5-5 Meters. It is very small which makes it easy to carry around and connect to other devices.

7. Vinyl cutter- PixMax™ 720mm/28" Vinyl Cutter Plotter & Software £299.99- Vinyl cutter is one the most important machines for marketing department as it lets the person cut out perfect shapes of the image from many types of material.

8. Digital camera- NIKON COOLPIX Superzoom S9600 Compact Digital Camera - Black £119.99- This camera has 16 megapixels which is the same as decent smartphone, an optical zoom 22x and full HD 1080p video.

9. File storage devices(usb, hard drive)- WD My Cloud Wireless External Hard Drive - 2 TB £99.00- This hard drive can be connected through USB 2.0 & 3.0. It has personal storage which is really good as if the hard drive is lost or damaged, data is always stored in personal cloud. If there is any file lost or any virus downloaded, it has automatic backup to stop all this.

Software needed

1. Adobe Photoshop CC- Photoshop is a software that enables editor to create animations, edit images or even put couple of different images into one to create something personal. Editing begins from shrinking/enlarging images to changing colour,shape and font of the image.
2. Adobe Illustrator CC- Illustrator is a software similar to Photoshop, but it is used for images such as logos or pictures that have to be enlarged many times.
3. Photo manipulation- Photo Manipulation software is used for editing images to create an ‘illusion’ after an original photo has been taken.

M2

Alternative hardware (MAC)

Mouse- APPLE Magic Mouse £59.00- The Apple Magic Mouse is the world's first Multi-Touch mouse, and allows to click anywhere and scroll in any direction. Magic mouse is wireless and it has 10 meter length and it can be used on any surface.

Keyboard- APPLE MB110B/B Keyboard - White £40.00- This apple keyboard doesn't have anything special, but it is made from aluminium and it has low profile buttons which makes typing really easy and fast.

iMac- APPLE iMac 21.5" £1,049.00- This Apple iMac has Inter Core i5 processorm, OS X Mavericks which is not the newest version of the operating system. 1 TB hard drive which is enough for alternative hardware, 8 GB memory and built-in wifi. Overall this iMac is good enough for marketing department, but with this amount of money, department could get much better computer for lower price with all the hardwares/softwares required.

Operating system- Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks- OS X 10.9 Mavericks was released on 22nd of October 2013. This is a free upgrade to all users running OS X Snow Leopard or later. Its changes include the addition of the previously iOS-only Maps and iBooks applications, improvements to the Notification Center, enhancements to several applications, and many under-the-hood improvements.
