Unit 2 M3/D2

For M3 and D2 I am going to evaluate a chosen computer, give positive feedback and explain what could be upgraded.

2011 Intel i7 with 580gtx graphics

M3- Evaluating computer
For this computer the amount of RAM is 6gb which is good for computer four years old. It costs around £60 but right now there are computers that contain even 16GB of RAM but this is not necessary for computer of daily use, even right now 6GB is absolutely enough for daily use. However RAM speed is pretty low, but this is probably because the computer is old. This Intel Core processor used in test is not good. Although it has average score on NovaBench test, it is still pretty bad. It only costs around £70 which shows the quality of the product and most of the newest programs/games would work really slow or not at all. Graphics card is only 512MB, which is not even enough to have the lowest graphic settings in most of the games nowadays. There are 2485 3D frames per second, that is not too bad but because this computer was built four years old, most of the parts in computer would have to be exchanged, especially this graphic card. For Hardware the size was good four years ago because this is the time when TB hardware started. However because small amount of RAM was going to hardware, hardware speed is really bad. Windows 7 Professional is in my opining second best windows, even better than Windows 8.1 but not better than Windows 7 Ultimate.

D2- Upgrading computer above

I would change everything in this computer as everything is old and works slow apart from Windows. I wouldn't change Windows 7 Professional as Windows 7 Ultimate is the only better windows and there is no point spending another £80 just on windows. Of course there is Windows 8 but in my opinion Windows 7 is easier to operate and it is designed better. For RAM I would buy Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 as 8GB is enough and the company is excellent for computer parts. The change that would bring to the computer would be, that computer will be able to download bigger files and in much faster time. The cost for RAM is £72. For CPU I would get AMD FX-8350 Eight Core as it one of the top processors and it would make a massive impact on the computer as it would increase the speed of the whole operating system which means that computer and programs would work faster. An average cost for this processor is around £112 which is not that bad, especially for what it provides. If a person is a gamer or spends a lot of time on graphics programs, this ASUS 2GB NVIDIA GeFore GTX 750 Graphic Card would be perfect as it is really good quality and it only costs £120. It is not necessary to get such a good graphic card just for normal use but it does make a massive impact for gamers /graphic designers as every game/ program would have much better quality of image. For space 2TB Internal Hard Drive is totally enough as this is as twice much space as before and it could last for very long without deleting anything. This internal hard drive costs £100. What this would change is that more programs can be stored without deleting others.

  1. www: nice start.

ebi: for M3 you need to explain the outcomes of the 4 areas the benchmark test produced:
    1-System RAM score
    2-CPU Tests
    3-Graphics Tests
    4-Hardware Tests

ebi: for D2 expand upon the improvements and suggest the exact components should be replaced (give model and prices etc.) and explain the benefits they would bring (relate it to the original test in M3).

  2. www: you have made the changes required for M3 well done.
    ebi: have you altered D2?
It still is brief and you haven't explored the benefits the changes would bring, give examples.
